How the Wyoming gas options differ

Black Hills publishes participating Wyoming divisions and selection rules. Its guidance warns that a nonregulated supplier can cost more than the regulated Gas Cost Adjustment option.

Confirm the participating town, division and deadline shown on the account’s selection materials. A Wyoming address by itself does not establish Choice Gas eligibility.

Utility and commercial service map

This map covers the utility routes represented by our Wyoming city guides. It is not an exhaustive statewide utility or supplier roster. A community or county listing does not confirm an individual service address.

Black Hills Wyoming Gas: Wyoming Choice Gas by division

Black Hills’ Wyoming Choice Gas town list separates Casper, Gillette and Torrington divisions and explains that prices or confirmation codes may differ by division. Cheyenne, Cody and other utilities’ towns must not be added merely because they are in Wyoming. Use the account’s selection packet and next applicable window.

Cost scope: Program-year supplier option and rollover terms, plus utility distribution costs. Operating question: Correct division confirmation code and account-specific selection deadline.

Black Hills Wyoming Gas: Black Hills Wyoming Gas commercial service

Black Hills’ Wyoming tariff distinguishes Cheyenne and Cody divisions from the communities in its Casper, Gillette and Torrington Choice Gas list. Being a Black Hills gas customer in Wyoming is not enough to infer participation in that annual selection process.

Cost scope: Division-specific sales gas cost or qualified transportation costs. Operating question: Division eligibility and service agreement; do not reuse a Choice Gas confirmation code.

Enbridge Gas Wyoming: Enbridge Gas Wyoming commercial service

Enbridge’s Wyoming tariff names Evanston, Green River, Kemmerer and Rock Springs among its major cities and identifies Questar Gas Company as the legal company. This system has its own service and transportation conditions; the Black Hills Choice Gas town list does not establish participation here.

Cost scope: Applicable sales gas cost versus transport, retained gas and supplier charges. Operating question: Questar/Enbridge Wyoming service agreement and operational responsibilities.

Montana-Dakota Utilities: Montana-Dakota sales versus transportation

Montana-Dakota publishes separate state tariffs with firm general sales and transportation schedules. A similarly named city in another state or a Black Hills Choice Gas packet is not evidence of participation here. Start from the operating state and the actual service category.

Cost scope: Purchased-gas adjustment under sales versus transportation and retained gas obligations. Operating question: Transportation qualification, balancing and any negotiated service agreement.

Wyoming Gas Company: Wyoming Gas Company commercial service

Wyoming Gas Company publishes its own billing rates, rules and tariff sheets for the Worland area. It is a separate utility from Black Hills and Montana-Dakota. A Wyoming Choice Gas advertisement or another company’s annual selection packet does not establish eligibility on this system.

Cost scope: Company gas-supply and service components. Operating question: Effective tariff and any account-specific alternate supply conditions.

Territory and program exceptions to keep visible

Cheyenne appears in Black Hills’ Wyoming gas territory, but not in its reviewed eight-community Choice Gas town list. Confirm the applicable sales or separately qualified transportation schedule instead of treating a statewide Choice Gas promotion as enrollment authority. Cheyenne source notes.

A practical Wyoming account decision

Compare regulated and nonregulated options, rollover provisions and any multi-year restrictions. Save the selection confirmation and applicable contract for each premises.

Record the utility’s legal service company, commercial rate code, billed unit and supply arrangement in one account row. Keep a separate row for each meter even where a supplier offers one master agreement. Normalize gas units before entering rates; compare constant supply prices and fees only after the available service and cost scope are clear.

Use the city guide for community-specific source notes. Exact meter eligibility still requires utility confirmation.

Sources and review notes

Reviewed October 16, 2026. Program information can change. Confirm the effective utility tariff, supplier availability and written offer before proceeding. Examples and planning tools are educational; they are not executable quotes or verified customer results.

A practical next step

Put the full contract in view.

Ask about your utility, supply terms or renewal. Keep account numbers and documents out of the initial inquiry.
