How the Rhode Island gas options differ
Rhode Island’s PUC provides utility regulation and tariff information. Commercial gas supply opportunities require the actual utility tariff and eligible supplier arrangement to be checked.
Identify the current service company on the gas bill and request its transportation requirements. Do not assume an electricity competitive-supply rule establishes gas enrollment.
Utility and commercial service map
This map covers the utility routes represented by our Rhode Island city guides. It is not an exhaustive statewide utility or supplier roster. A community or county listing does not confirm an individual service address.

Rhode Island Energy / Narragansett Electric: Rhode Island business gas choice
Rhode Island’s Office of Energy Resources says businesses may choose competitive third-party gas supply while relying on the local utility for delivery. The PUC’s gas page links marketer rules, tariffs and the gas-service request route. Electricity shopping and residential offers do not substitute for commercial gas terms.
Cost scope: Utility gas-cost alternative versus supplier gas, fees and excluded utility items. Operating question: Marketer requirements, authorization, meter-read start and return terms.
A practical Rhode Island account decision
Ask how winter capacity, balancing and meter-data costs are handled. Include these items when comparing a marketer’s supply proposal with bundled utility service.
Record the utility’s legal service company, commercial rate code, billed unit and supply arrangement in one account row. Keep a separate row for each meter even where a supplier offers one master agreement. Normalize gas units before entering rates; compare constant supply prices and fees only after the available service and cost scope are clear.
